I grew up on a small farm in NorthWest Arkansas, where I spent nearly every waking moment outdoors. I love being outside. I believe that nature was created to bring us joy. This is what first brought me to photography. It gives me a way to savour the feelings I have when I travel to beautiful places. Colorful landscapes make my heart sing, and I love taking them with me. 

 

When I’m not taking pictures I enjoy gardening, crafting, and most of all spending time with my husband and daughters. One of my favorite places to be is on my porch swing watching my 3 little girls play outside. Even when doing these things, I’m sometimes still behind the camera. 

 

For a long time my sole interest was landscape photography, until my desire to learn more and create beautiful images could no longer be satisfied on vacation time. In an effort to enjoy my passion from home I began to torture my children with my ever growing interest. 

 

I would throw together a backdrop with items from around the house. Dress my girls up in their favorite outfits and have them pose in front of me and some lamps I’d collected from around the house. I would constantly be changing the lighting and adjusting camera settings and asking them to pose “just one more time” until they had had enough. 

 

When a new friend asked my daughter what her Mommy’s job was, and she answered “She’s a photographer” my heart skipped a beat. I had fallen in love all over again. It is so fulfilling to capture the light in a person's eyes and see how portraits can change so much with each individual personality. Just like every sunset expresses itself differently, every smile has a different impact. People are so beautiful! I want my photography to celebrate that. 

 

I am constantly researching and learning as much as I can about photography. When I asked my husband what I should put in my “About Me” section he answered “She loves photography too much.” He’s right. (Don’t worry, he still loves me.) I’m always happier with a camera. I can’t wait to get to know you and add your ‘sunset smile’ to my collection.
